Berlin Cemetery

Berlin, Sangamon County, Illinois


James Parish was the son of Samuel and Sarah Parish of Sangamon County, Illinois. He was captured during the Civil War and was a prisoner at Andersonville for nine months. He was paroled at the end of the war, but sadly, he died at a hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

He was originally buried at the National Cemetery in Jacksonville, but many of the graves there were later moved to the National cemetery in Beaufort Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina. James was one of those moved and his grave is at that cemetery,

Larry D. "Ike" Sheppard 41, of Berlin died from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Morgan County .

He was born Jan. 16, 1949, in Springfield , the son of Frank and Patricia A. Clements Sheppard. He was the owner and operator of Ike's Saloon in New Berlin .

Mr. Sheppard was a member of Berlin Christian Church, Roofers Local 112 and American Legion Post 743 in New Berlin . He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. (Find a Grave)
