St. Bernard, OH (FOX19) -

Police are searching for a suspect who caused $3,000 in damage to St. Mary Cemetery in St. Bernard [near Cincinnati].

The suspect reportedly entered the cemetery early Saturday morning, smashing a glass door to two mausoleums and knocking over a large statue. Authorities say there is significant damage to the statue and surrounding marble items.

A K-9 tracked the suspect towards Greenlee Avenue but eventually lost the trail.

Security cameras in both mausoleums recorded images of the suspect. Investigators describe him as a male, white, 18-25 years old, 5'8" – 5'10" wearing blue jeans and a dark hoodie with a green image on the front.

"Obviously the community is upset about someone damaging such sacred ground for no apparent reason," a representative from St. Mary's said in a release.

Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to call St. Bernard Police at 242-2727.
